musikstadt markneukirchen

Beitrag von angus »

Hi All,

I have an old classic guitar by "MUSIKSTADT MARKNEUKIRCHEN” manufactured in 1966.

Does someone have some knowledge about the history and the value of this guitar.

Thanks

Hi angus!

I moved your thread to a better fitting forum.

"Musikstadt Markneukirchen" means music(al) town Markneukirchen, see http://www.museum-markneukirchen.de/eng ... nglish.htm.

The guitar maker was Kurt Haller. Unfortunately I myself don't know anything about him. And oddly enough I didn't found any hint about him in the museum datbase. I hope one ot the guitar makers will give you some advices.

Best greetings and a beautiful Advent season

Udo

Good morning,

I didn't find Kurt Haller in our Database. I asked a guitarmaker, but he couldn't help.

Best regards,
Heidrun

Hello Angus,

we are not able to say something about the value only by a picture. But I think the value is not so high. What is the date on the label?

Hi Angus,

can you please post some additional pics showing the headstock from both sides and the tuners ? From what I can see on the pics (neck heel, neck, bridge, overall shape of the body) it´s VERY close to an old acoustic from Markneukirchen I just have on the workbench, missing the label inside. Do you have any chance for a look inside the guitar ? Can you see the bracing pattern on the soundboard and the back ? From the pics I think it´s spruce for the soundboard, maple for the back and sides and maple or beech for the neck with a rosewood fretboard. The bridge could be brazilian rosewood, but I´m not sure from only a small pic.

The tuners are not in a good condition and only the first two are the original ones.

Overall the guitar is in a great condition everything is in place and no cracks.

The headstock is noticeably different from the one I have and this one uses a zero fret and tuners with Emberger rollers. I think your guitar also has the three straight braces on the bottom, but this was a common bracing pattern in the 60´s. So I guess they are not twins.

I just found this one here from a French guitar forum from 2007:

http://www.guitariste.com/forums/guitar ... 61380.html

Sadly the pics have been removed, it doesn´t tells us much, the guys are mostly competing about understanding German and how funny the German language is, but at least we know, that Kurt Haller still build guitars in 1971
