Instrument Maker Alois Schramm

Beitrag von jring228 »

I recently bought an early rotary valve horn by the maker Alois Schramm from Graslitz. I cannot seem to find much information about him other than what is listed in the Langwill index. The horn must date from the late 1800's and is pitched in F, though it plays very sharp using the crook from my Vienna horn. It also came with a short "stecker" which fits into the horn's receiver, though I do not know what this is for exactly. It has beautiful detail work on the valve levers and valve caps and plays ok, though it did not come with a crook.

Please see the attached photos of the horn.

Any information regarding this maker and his instruments would be most welcomed!
